Tennessee has secured a place among the final six schools for one of the state’s top basketball prospects. Four-star Bartlett High School wing Dylan Jones is considering the Vols alongside Alabama, Texas A&M, Providence, Ole Miss and Memphis.
Jones is listed by 247Sports at 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds entering his senior season. The 247Sports Composite ranks him No. 43 nationally, No. 11 among small forwards and the top 2027 prospect in Tennessee.
The Vols will get their next major opportunity with Jones when he takes an official visit to Knoxville beginning Oct. 2. Tennessee currently has no commitments in its 2027 class, making the visit an early chance for Rick Barnes and his staff to begin building that group around one of the best players in their own backyard.
Jones averaged 16.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 33 games for Bartlett last season. He helped the Panthers reach the Class 4A state championship game and participated in the NBPA Top 100 Camp during the summer.
His appeal goes well beyond his scoring average. Jones has the size and length to defend multiple positions, while his offensive game allows him to attack the basket, hit shots from outside and operate without needing every possession built around him.
“Jones is strong and versatile with a scorer’s mentality,” 247Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein wrote. “He already has the ability to play and defend multiple positions.”
That versatility should make Jones an obvious fit for Barnes, who has increasingly stocked Tennessee’s roster with interchangeable wings capable of affecting games at both ends. The Vols signed three four-star wings in their 2026 class, but Jones would arrive a year later with his own opportunity to claim an important role.
The competition will be serious. Memphis provides the hometown pull, while Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas A&M give Tennessee three SEC programs to beat.
That makes the Oct. 2 visit more than another date on the recruiting calendar. Tennessee has gotten itself into the race for the state’s best 2027 player; now the Vols have a chance to convince him that his best destination is only a few hours east.
