Barnes almost always gets his teams defending at a high level, but this is a whole new group learning to play together. Does the defense look like Tennessee basketball on the defensive end by November, or will this one take longer?

← Back to All ThreadsHow fast can CRB turn 13 newcomers into a Rick Barnes defense?
Expect a hopefully small drop off in defense and rebounding but a vastly better ability "to score the ball"

CRB said in a presser on Tuesday that if Jalen Washington is not cleared to play that he would be concerned about post play but noted he's coached high performing teams before that had no huge guys down low. Brown pulled down 12 rebounds in the scrimmage last Saturday, I think he's going to have a true breakout year. Defensively Barnes said they are nowhere near where they need to be but that they have shown great improvement over the past month of workouts, dating back to summer. If they could eventually rate top 10 in total defense and score as expected, they'll be a handful.
